Wailuku, Hawaii – Growing up, I was never a Grease fan. But many of the people and family I knew at the time were into the craze; the pink ladies, and the guys with the white undershirts with jeans, hair grease, and cigarettes on the cuff to celebrate halloween or homecomings.

No matter then or now, one thing that did stick out for me was always the Music. Needless to say, there was a lot of that during Sunday’s performance.
Sunday afternoon at “Grease” proved that there are some shining stars in the making, and Baldwin High School on the Island of Maui – in the middle of the Pacific Ocean – is no stranger to producing shining lights.
Bob Nakasone, Class of “58, went on to be a member of the State House. Jesse Kuhaulua, Class of ’63, became a top Japan Sumo Wrestler. Kurt Suzuki, Class of ’01, became a professional Baseball player in the Major Leagues. And finally, an alumni from Baldwin drama class, Kandace Kayne, Class of “88, became a Broadway & reality television Star. Skies the limit, Kids!

Grease opened this past Friday, March 1st, and runs until Friday, March 8th at the Baldwin High School Auditorium.
